Speeding and Traffic Calming

Over the past ten years the community has engaged with traffic engineers twice to help with mitigating problems with speeding and traffic calming. All of the major recommendations made by the traffic engineer were implemented. This included the addition of numerous stop signs in the south mesa, 20 MPH signs, pedestrian crossing signs and raised reflectors to slow traffic. About five years ago a portable radar sign was purchased and it is moved around to different locations where higher vehicle speeds have been observed to help slow down drivers.

While these are all helpful the best solution to speeding and traffic calming is for each driver to follow the posted 20 MPH speed limit when driving in the community and to make a firm and hard stop at each posted STOP sign.

There are many small children in the community and we all must be mindful of them and take the time to follow the posted speed limits.

There is a four way STOP sign intersection in the south mesa at the corner of Samuel Court and Cypress Hills drive where some drivers simply ignore the STOP signs and this creates a serious safety hazard. Please do your part and follow all road signs. Drivers that violate the signs could be called to a due process hearing and fined.
