The community was just made aware that a number of mailboxes in Encinitas Ranch were broken into over the weekend. The master keys used by the mailman to open the mailbox were damaged such that someone could open these mailboxes. The exact extent of which individual mailboxes were damaged is unknown. According to the mailman who delivers mail to the homeowners in Encinitas Ranch south of Leucadia Blvd., a work order has been issued by the post office to have the master locks replaced or repaired. That is the responsibility of the post office not the HOA.
If a mailbox was broken into a notice was placed on the mailbox indicating that the master lock was broken. Until the master locks are replaced affected homeowners will need to go to the post office to retrieve their mail. Mail in ballots for the upcoming November election were recently delivered so each affected homeowner should check the status of their election ballots.
This situation is not unique to Encinitas Ranch. Apparently other areas was impacted as well.
The community is in contact with the post office and will provide updates as they become available.
