On Wednesday, June 25th, the Encinitas City Council unanimously voted to accept a $100,000 donation from Glen Johnson to help with paying for a portion of the proposed park on the L7 city owned property. Glen is a long time resident of Encinitas and agreed to make this donation in return for naming an important amenity in the park in honor of his late wife, Sally. This will ensure that his donation will live on in honor of his wife. All of the council members are extremely supportive and there was discussion about how we can create a proper non-profit organization to manage such donations and encourage others.
The next steps with the park are to create some preliminary renderings and then share those with community members to solicit feedback.
Every step now, like this one taken on Wednesday night moves us ever so closer to have a local park to support all of the residents that live along Quail Gardens Drive and across all of Encinitas.
We will keep you posted on the process and next steps.
