After many years of local opposition, the city took the next step in realizing the long fought dream of building a park at the L-7 city owned parcel of land on Quail Gardens Drive. At the December 10th city council meeting, the city council debated and ultimately unanimously approved the award of a design contract to Schmidt Design Group to proceed with the design of the L-7 Park Development Project (CP26D).

The design phase of the project should start in early 2026 and will include comprehensive community outreach to solicit feedback on the plans as well as environmental studies of the land.

Below are several photos of the land. It is split into two pieces with the east side consisting of approximately seven acres of land and the west side of three acres.
