The recognition was given for three major focus areas:
- Completion of one of the largest reclaimed water projects in northern San Diego County for 2019. This project delivers 13.7 million gallons of reclaimed water per year. It was a joint effort with the San Elijo Joint Powers Authority, the San Dieguito Water District, the City of Encinitas and BrightView, our landscaping contractor. This provides us with a sustainable source of water in the future throughout all climate conditions including severe droughts and at a much lower cost.
- The community installed a fully automated smart irrigation system that provides increased efficiencies and effectiveness for water management.
- BrightView has transitioned from gasoline powered landscaping equipment to battery based. This includes battery powered leaf blowers, edgers and electric lawn mowers.
