Encinitas Ranch was recently recognized as one of the award winners for the City of Encinitas 2019 Environmental Award program for significant contributions to environmental efforts. The following is a link to an article posted on the city’s website under News:

The recognition was due to three major focus areas:
- Completion of one of the largest reclaimed water projects in northern San Diego County in 2019. This project was a joint effort with the San Elijo Joint Powers Authority, the San Dieguito Water District, the City of Encinitas and BrightView, our landscaping contractor. The entire community is now on reclaimed water for all 35 acres of our common areas. This provides us with a sustainable source of water in the future throughout all climate conditions including severe droughts and at a much lower cost.
- The community installed a fully automated smart irrigation system that will provide increased efficiencies and effectiveness for water management. BrightView completed all of the necessary upgrades and adjustments in the late summer.
- BrightView is taking a leadership role in transitioning from gasoline powered landscaping equipment to battery based. The City of Encinitas is requiring that everyone cease using gasoline powered 2 stroke leaf blowers by the end of the year. BrightView has been using battery powered leaf blowers for most of the year as well as battery powered edgers. They expect to transition to all electric lawn mowers in early 2020.
