Recently the superintendent of the golf course, Todd Kochanowski, reached out to us regarding e-bikes being ridden around the golf course and causing significant damages to various areas including the greens. The golf course is private property and no one should be walking or riding on a bike on the cart paths, tee boxes, fairways and greens. They have had to hire a security guard to monitor the course as they close down at dusk. Someone caught causing damage will be prosecuted.
Also, the City of Encinitas, City of Solana Beach, and San Diego County Sheriff’s Department are asking parents and caregivers of kids or teenagers with e-bikes to attend a virtual meeting to learn about important safety rules and guidelines to reinforce with their young riders.
There has been stepped up education and information on e-bike issues in recent months, but we need parents and caregivers to help emphasize this information at home and on the road. Please join us virtually to learn how you and your e-bike riders can safely and legally share the road.
The Sheriff’s Department and San Diego County Bike Coalition will be sharing important information, including:
– Understanding what’s legal and what’s not when it comes to e-bikes
– Your responsibility as the parent or legal guardian of an e-bike rider
– Tips for keeping your kids safe
– Resources and educational opportunities for e-bike riders.

We appreciate your help so we can all have fun and stay safe on our roadways and trails. Please communicate the need to stay off of the course to everyone especially those own e-bikes. By damaging the golf course it affects all of us. Let’s be good neighbors.
