On Wednesday, January 10th the Encinitas city council unanimously approved all proposed traffic calming and safety measures for both Quail Gardens Drive and Saxony Road. This was covered as one of several agenda items for a special city council meeting devoted to safey and traffic.
The improvements approved will address issues raised by many owners in Encinitas Ranch about the safety, traffic speeds and volume on Quail Gardens Drive. The outcome reached last night was the result of nearly ten years of work initially started in 2014 by the Leichtag Foundation and more recently through the formation of the Four Corners Consortium which represents all of the residents who live along Quail Gardens Drive. Through the efforts of the consortium and strong lobbying the council agreed that it was time to address the concerns of residents who live along this road corridor.
The plans include two stop signs, a roundabout at Ecke Road as well as new bike lanes. The stop signs will be installed at Via Zamia and Kristen Court. We will keep everyone updated on progress with the implementation of the plans.
