Several significant milestones were recently met for the project to bring reclaimed water in to the south mesa for our common areas. First of all, the San Elijo Joint Powers Authority (SEJPA) received a Coastal Development Permit (CDP) for the project in April. Secondly, SEJPA and their engineering design firm, Dudek, hosted a Community Participation Program (CPP) meeting on Tuesday, June 6th at the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course club house to answer any questions from residents in Encinitas. The meeting went extremely well and all those attending offered strong support for the project.
The next steps is for SEJPA to work with the City of Encinitas to secure all of the various permits. This is expected to take at least several months. Toward the end of this process SEJPA can advertise the project to potential contractors and aware a contract. This should take place later this year. Finally, construction could begin in 2018.
