This article is a reminder about the services provided by Private Security. Their primary focus is on conducting parking enforcement between the hours of 1 AM and 5 AM to ensure that homeowners and their guests are following the Parking Policy. They conduct one two hour drive through of the community late at night in a marked car with licensed patrol officers. While they are assisting with enforcing the parking policy they have a minor secondary role with helping to deter crime late at night.
Over a period of a number of years we reduced the number of patrols to this one two hour patrol at night as additional patrols were proven to be very ineffective and cost prohibitive.
Their secondary role is on enhancing security and safety in the common areas including the streets and parks. They are not a police force and they are not responsible for the security of any home. Individual homeowners are responsible for securing their own homes and personal property. The community has written numerous articles and held town hall meetings on crime prevention with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and their Crime Prevention officers. We recommend that homeowner also consider subscribing to crimemapping.com to monitor crimes in the local neighborhood. This is a tool that the community uses on a daily basis.
Private Security should not be used to address neighbor to neighbor issues. Those are best handled by the individual homeowners or through the Sheriff’s Department. Homeowners can contact the Sheriff’s Department through their non-emergency phone number at 760-966-3597.
By engaging with Private Security for matters such as noise it takes away from their primary responsibilities. Please use these officers only for serious matters related to security and safety.
