The project sponsored by the San Elijo Joint Powers Authority (SEJPA) to bring reclaimed water to the south mesa of Encinitas Ranch is moving along at an accelerated pace. SEJPA, the local producer of reclaimed water, is advertising now for a general contractor to manage the project. They expect to award a contract within the next month or so then begin construction in the fall.
The project when completed will provide approximately 50 acre feet of reclaimed water to the entire south mesa as well as to the city for irrigation along the Lynwood Drive trail (Lot 15) and to FoxPoint Farms. Having reclaimed water to irrigate all of our common areas will allow us to not only save a considerable amount of money every year on water but more importantly, allow us to protect our most valuable assets – the landscaping in our community.
The project will entail trenching Paseo de las Flores from Quail Gardens Drive up to Lynwood Drive and then south on Lynwood Drive to the very end. Work is expected to start in the fall and could take approximately six months. No doubt there will be disruption to traffic flow but the community is working closely with SEJPA, the San Dieguito Water District (SDWD) and the City of Encinitas to mitigate construction issues.
The board, SEJPA and the city will be creating a comprehensive communications plan to ensure that all homeowners are aware of project status on a regular basis and plans to address issues that may arise during construction including traffic flow, ingress, and egress from homes.
