Many homeowners may not be familiar with the Leichtag Commons and Coastal Roots Farm located on Saxony Road diagonally across from the Encinitas YMCA. The Leichtag Commons compromise all of the land purchased a number of years ago by the Leichtag Foundation from the Ecke family. This includes all of the green houses on the east side of Saxony Road and the old Ecke family ranch house.

The Coastal Root Farm is but one small element of the Leichtag Commons. They operate a farm stand to sell locally grown organically raised vegetables. Each week, they hold the following public events:
o Pay-what-you-can Farm Stand open Thursdays from 2 – 6 PM and Sundays from 10 AM – 3 PM
o Volunteer Hours on Tuesdays from 8 – 10 AM , Wednesdays from 8 – 11 AM, and Sundays from 2 – 4 PM
