Recently, the city announced the creation of a formal Fire Safe Council whose mission is to educate the residents of Encinita and operationalize activities to promote fire prevention and preparedness. The Public Health and Safety Commission appointed Steve Cesnauskas, a former fire department captain, to lead this effort. Already, districts have been formed across the city as seen in the flyer below.

Our community intends to be a very active participant in future plans for the Encinitas Fire Safe Council. Olivehain has had such an organization in place for many years.

If you are at all concerned about preventing wildfires in our neighborhoods, hardening your home against fires and getting prepared for such events, you should consider attending a workshop scheduled for Thursday, August 20th at the Encinitas Senior Centera from 6 to 8 PM.
