Encinitas Housing Element Task Force Update

Posted on: January 15th, 2018

At a special city council meeting held on Wednesday, January 10th, the city council along with the Housing Element Task Force (HETF) members agreed to add the L-7 parcel of land back on to the list of parcels of land to be designated for affordable housing. The L-7 parcel of land is located on Quail Gardens Drive between Via Zamia and Quail Gardens Drive.

As recently as December 16th that parcel of land was taken off of the preliminary list of land parcels for further consideration. However, the council and HETF members reversed course on January 10th.

The L-7 lot could hold upwards of 190 units and would add significant traffic flows to Quail Gardens Drive and could have implications on housing values.

The city council is to meet again this Wednesday to continue discussions on finalizing the list of land parcels that will ultimately go to the voters of Encinitas in November of this year.
