Traffic Mitigation Measures – Quail Gardens Drive

Posted on: December 2nd, 2023

The following is a brief update on the status of various traffic mitigation measures for Quail Gardens Drive (QGD).

The city will be installing a protected left turn traffic light at the intersection of Leucadia Blvd. and QGD for north and south bound traffic on QGD. The city is still waiting for the ordered signal material to arrive. The original installation date was to be in November or December of this year.  The traffic engineer at the city believes that the light and associated materials should arrive this month. Once arrived the city should be able to install and turn them on in 2-3 months maximum.

As a result of heavy lobbying the city council approved various other traffic mitigation measures for both QGD and Saxony Road. Thkere will be two stop four way signs installed on QGD at Via Zamia and Kristen Court. A roundabout will be installed Ecke Road where the entrance to the Botanical Gardens and EUSD Farm Lab are located. The city engineer will be presenting the final design and cost estimates to the city council on 12/20 and if approved, the city will then advertise them to hire a contractor in January. Based on the process of hiring a contractor and ordering the material for the roundabout, the city anticipates the stop signs to be installed around February or March and the roundabout in March or April.
